CRESTVIEW — Davidson Middle School students are selling Little Caesar’s Pizza kits to raise funds for classroom supplies and equipment.
The $18-19 packages — including three crusts, cheeses, sauces and pepperoni — will allow pizza lovers to customize their meal.
"They can add as much cheese as they want," said activity organizer Tim Sexton, a civics and world history teacher. "There are even pizza kits with bread sticks and cookies."
Sexton seeks additional funding for Robotics Integration into STEM education, a course coming to Davidson next year. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
RISE, a pilot program for Davidson and Shoal River middle schools, educates students interested in job skills involving computers, engineering and robotics.
Pizza kit proceeds would help pay for computer software, robotics equipment and other supplies, Sexton said.
The RISE program, which prepares students for post-high school careers, may help some dreams become a reality.
"It may be the dreams of parents to see their children go to college, but it may not necessarily be the dream of the child," Sexton said.
The pizza kit fundraiser would provide Sexton's class $5 per unit sold. A grant allowed Sexton to purchase 14 laptop computers for the program.
