The Okaloosa County Department of Corrections recently received 100 percent ratings upon its recent inspections in accordance with Florida Model Jail Standards.
In addition, the Medical Housing Unit within Corrections was found to be clean, organized and well managed.
An assessment of operations and overall facility conditions, as well as policies and procedures, are part of the inspection process. Inspectors noted that staff exhibited high professional standards in a challenging work environment, according to a press release from Okaloosa County.
Additionally, Okaloosa County Department of Corrections is currently in 100 percent compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory standards required to receive accreditation by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission, as well as maintains accreditation from the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare.
The Corrections Department is inspected annually by Florida Model Jail Standards Certified Inspectors and re-accredited every three years by certified Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission assessors.
