CRESTVIEW — Four students from North Okaloosa schools have received countywide attention for their artistic talents.Bob Sikes Elementary students Kianna Riley and Emma Newell and Northwood Arts and Science Academy students Emily Mangers and Anastasia Brewer are among several students who won a specialty plate designer contest.
The Okaloosa County Tax Collector's Office, in partnership with the Okaloosa County School District, announced results of the recent Kids Tag Art fundraiser and art contest, which raised $5,536 for participating schools.
“The Kids Tag Art program is not just a fundraiser; it is something where teachers can inspire their art students to learn about and design their own specialty plate art and, in the process, raise supplemental monies for classroom art supplies," Tax Collector Ben Anderson said.
Anderson will recognize contest winners during Monday's Okaloosa County School Board meeting at 6 p.m. at 120 Lowery Place in Fort Walton Beach.
Award of Distinction winning tags are available for sale to the public. Proceeds from public sales go to the Okaloosa Education Trust Fund and will be evenly divided among participating schools.
