CRESTVIEW — The Ronald McDonald House in Pensacola has an extra $200 following the Crestview High School Leadership Program’s first outdoor movie night, which featured the 2013 animated adventure comedy “Despicable Me 2.”
"And we collected a bucket of pop tabs, too," Leadership teacher Stephanie Sanders said of Thursday's event on the Jack Foster Stadium field. The home sells the tabs as scrap metal to raise funds for operating expenses.

More than 100 audience members sprawled on the field in camp chairs or on blankets. It was senior Walter Jagielski's second outdoor movie experience, but won’t be his last; he wants to see a film at a real, classic American drive-in cinema, he said. “I’ve never been able to go to a drive-in,” he said. “I hope to go see one soon.”
For many students, like junior David Knight, senior Jaylynne Robinson and senior Jen Moore, it was their first al fresco film screening. “It’s a new experience,” David said.
Instead of traditional popcorn, Girl Scouts from Troop 738 sold cookies, providing a free drink with each box sold.
Retired postal worker Dave Strawser brought his 5-year-old grandchildren, Samuel Dillon and Madalynn Strawser, and a pizza to the film.
“It’s just a nice family night out on the town,” Strawser said.
