Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in October 2014 was 6 percent, the lowest level in approximately six years. The June 2008 rate was also 6.0 percent.
The latest numbers are down from 6.7 percent in October 2013 and 6.1 percent in September of this year.
Okaloosa's 4.5 percent unemployment rate ranks 65 out of 67 Florida counties, the third lowest in the state.
Regional unemployment rates, not seasonally adjusted, are as follows:
•Okaloosa – 4.5 percent
•Bay – 5.8 percent
•Escambia – 5.8 percent
•Santa Rosa – 5.2 percent
•Walton – 3.9 percent
•Florida – 5.8 percent
•United States – 5.5 percent
Metropolitan Statistical Area preliminary rankings also list the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach-Destin MSA (4.5 percent) at 23 out of 23, with the lowest unemployment level of all.
