Crestview woman awarded bronze medal in dental assisting competition

NICEVILLE — Caitlin Slater knows a lot about dental assisting, and now she has a bronze medal to prove it.

The Crestview resident was awarded the honor during the National Leadership and Skills Conference and SkillsUSA Championships, held June 24 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.

She had won gold at Florida’s state-level SkillsUSA competition in Lakeland.

The National SkillsUSA Championships showcase the country's best career and technical education students. More than 6,000 students from every state and two territories competed in 100 contests in technical, skilled, service and health occupations.

More than 1,000 judges ranked participants based on industry standards for employment.
