NWF high school students to compete in Math Bowl

NICEVILLE — Teams from 16 Northwest Florida high schools will compete in the 28th annual Math Bowl on Friday at Northwest Florida State College.

Approximately 130 students will participate in the day-long competition that is sponsored by the college and area groups that support STEM-focused initiatives. Sponsors include Team Eglin and the Air Force Research Laboratory, which is part of the Munitions Directorate.

Students compete on written exams from 9:30-11 a.m. Afternoon ciphering matches will be held 12:30-2 p.m. at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center. Math problems will be displayed on a large screen so members of the audience can match their wits against student competitors.

The public is invited to the ciphering match and to an awards ceremony that will immediately follow the afternoon competition.
