Crestview kids share what they're doing over summer vacation

CRESTVIEW — A summer of travel, fun, splashing at Big Kahuna’s, family reunions, baseball, swimming and camping awaits students throughout North Okaloosa County. The News Bulletin asked some elementary school kids, "What are you doing this summer?"

“Every other year, we have a family reunion. We want to do a road trip. In 2012, we went to Montana. Before, we went to South Dakota. This year, we’re going to New Jersey.”

MARY RICHARD, second grade

“In July, we’re going to Minnesota for a wedding. We’re going to the Mall of America. They have pretty much everything there. My dad said it takes two days to see everything.”

ETHAN MILONAS, second grade

“I’m going to the beach in Fort Walton and then we’re going to Chuck E. Cheese’s.”

STEFANY RAMIREZS, second grade

“I’m going to Georgia for four weeks with my grandma. I’m going swimming and fishing and stuff.”

TREVOR NOLAN, second grade

“I’m going to California! I’m going to visit my grandma, my aunt, my uncle and my cousins.”

“I’m going swimming with my family, and then on the 22nd, I’m getting the hole in my heart healed. Then I’m going to Big Kahuna’s. I went there for three days in a row before.”

ELIZABETH STROPS, second grade

“I’m going to language school to learn Spanish, then in 2016 I’m going to Ecuador. We’re going to be missionaries and we’re going to build a children’s home.”

“In July, we’re going to Camp o’the Pines. We go swimming and stuff. After that I’m going to football camp in Jacksonville.”

“I’m going to Crestview High School’s baseball camp. Then I’m going to the sheriff’s office camp at Shoal River Middle School. We might go canoeing, too.”

KYLAR PALMER, fifth grade

“I’m going to be dancing most of the time, and teaching dancing. I’ll teach anyone who wants to learn to dance.”

ALYSSA LAWSON, fifth grade

“I think I’m going to go camping with my family, but I’m not sure yet. And I’m going to Big Kahuna’s or Shipwreck Island with my girlfriends.”

TRINITY CASSELL, fifth grade

“The first two weeks of summer, I’m going to my mother’s father’s house, and then I’m going to my great-grandparents’ house. There’s going to be a big party there.”

BRENDAN CARSON, second grade

“I’m going to my dad’s. He lives in Tennessee. My dad’s got a big surprise for me, but he won’t tell me what it is.”

AUSTIN WESTBROOKS, second grade

“I’m going to Texas. We’re going to watch the workers build a house and then we’re moving there.”

GEORGE GUBLER, kindergarten

“I’m going to go to a school on base with a bunch of friends. They have a pirate ship there and a glass bottom boat. And it has a pool.”
