CRESTVIEW — Crestview High School cheerleaders attended a Universal Cheerleaders Association camp July 23-26 in Destin. Members learned material for the upcoming season and competed with other teams, according to their coach, Heather Simmons.
The squad brought home several gold superior and first place awards; senior Kricket Kronmiller earned the "All-American Cheerleader" designation. by the UCA staff. As a result, USA invited her to be part of the London Varsity Spirit Cheer Tour, where she will have the opportunity to spend a week in London, England and take part in the London New Year's Day Parade.
"The team overcame many obstacles during camp week, including various injuries and illness. They had to rearrange many stunts and formations throughout the camp, but finished strong, earning Gold superior ribbons every night of camp and three first-place trophies for their 'Xtreme' routine, Game Day routine, and Best Overall in the small varsity division," Simmons said.
"As a new coach to CHS, I could not be more proud of this team's hard work and dedication throughout camp. If this camp is any indication of what to expect for the upcoming school year, I think the high school and community will be extremely impressed with this team and will enjoy their enthusiasm & school spirit," she said.
