Crestview High School receives another threat

CRESTVIEW — Crestview High School received a threat for the second time in less than a week.

An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson confirmed Monday night a threat was posted on a girl’s restroom wall.

“Again, we will take the standard precautions,” the spokesperson said in an email.

“Again,” because a similar incident occurred Feb. 9 at the school. A message found in a boy’s bathroom in the initial incident said “kill everyone.” The message also warned readers to “be ready before” Feb. 10 — no violent incidents were reported on that date.

The OCSO gave a similar comment during the first incident, citing increased security measures. Details were not given due to “operational security,” according to the spokesperson.

Calls to CHS after the first incident were not returned and no official statement was released to the public.

During a call to CHS regarding the second incident, a representative from the school said the original inquiry was given to the Okaloosa County School Board for a response and any additional questions should be directed there. The board made no follow-up after the first incident and a spokesperson wasn't available Tuesday to comment.

Parents were notified of both situations by an automated phone message from the school. Additionally, the school posted via its Facebook that a threat was discovered.

Several parents expressed their concerns and voiced plans to keep their children at home. As of Tuesday morning, CHS made no social media posts discussing the second incident.
