CRESTVIEW — Many Crestview schools are helping others this holiday season.

For example:

Crestview High School theatre students presented the play, “Junie B. Jones: Jingle Bells, Batman Smells” for Richbourg School students on Thursday. The cast, under Annette Gebhardt’s direction, included Emily Keiffer as Junie B. Jones, Emily Wayer as May, and Jake Dale as Mr. Scary. Richbourg School teacher Keri Sammons said that most of the pre-kindergarten through 22-year-old special needs students attended and enjoyed the play.

Crestview High’s Bulldog Pack, sponsored by Erika Kennedy, made Christmas cards for patients at the local veterans hospital and sent cards to deployed soldiers from the area. They are also purchasing Christmas presents for area families in need.

At Shoal River Middle School, eighth-grade U.S. history teacher Ryan Patterson had each of his classes come up with ways to improve the lives of those less fortunate. Patterson came up with an idea as well — The Teddy Bear Service Project — and implemented it throughout the school. Students donated new and gently used stuffed animals to be delivered to the Florida Children’s Hospital in Orlando and to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

During Antioch Elementary’s Sharing and Caring Food Drive, which ends Dec. 14, students have donated canned goods and other non-perishable food items for the Sharing and Caring Food Pantry in Crestview.
