Baker residents celebrate Gators' Homecoming Parade

BAKER — On an unseasonably warm Friday in Baker, traffic on State Highway 4 halted approximately 45 minutes.

Baker residents lined the streets an hour in advance from 14th Street at Baker School's entrance all the way down Highway 4 to Georgia Avenue and finally to Buck Ward Road.

Homecoming representatives from different grades and school organizations topped sports cars and threw candy, while themed floats pulled by tractors and customized pick-up trucks showed school spirit by depicting various ways to cook South Walton High School's mascot, the Seahawk.

Heat played a role in the festivities, as an exhausted Gator mascot took some deserved rest, with one parent saying, "It gets hot in that Gator suit."
