NICEVILLE — The Northwest Florida State College student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management, founded in 2015, is celebrating an award.

The Niceville chapter won the SHRM 2015-2016 Merit Award for providing superior growth and development opportunities to its members, one of 163 winners out of the 206 schools that applied.

The merit award program encourages student chapters to require ongoing excellence in the following areas: requirements, operations, programming, member's professional development, support of the human resource profession and SHRM engagement.

Chapters have the opportunity to earn an award based on the number of activities they complete during the merit award cycle, which was April 1, 2015, to March 31.

“These chapters truly represent the future of the HR profession,” said Susan Post, SHRM east divisional director and leader of SHRM’s student programs. “Their achievements go above and beyond their everyday academic and work commitments and we applaud the positive impact their efforts have on their schools, their local communities and beyond.”
