CRESTVIEW — Multiple charges are pending in connection with a pursuit on Interstate 10 in
Okaloosa and Walton counties this afternoon.
A high-speed chase ended when the suspect crashed his vehicle at the Highway 331 exit ramp.
An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy was attempting to make a traffic stop on a man speeding in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 around 1:30 this afternoon. The driver however refused to stop and could be seen throwing various items out of the car window as he continued down the highway into Walton County.
The driver got off at the Highway 331 exit but crashed and then took off on foot. He was quickly apprehended by OCSO deputies and taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated.
OCSO deputies went back to search for items the driver had been tossing out the window during the pursuit.
Among those found was a suspected credit card skimmer.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office and Defuniak Springs Police Department assisted in the case.
