An area teenager was killed Friday night following a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 90.
According to a news release from Florida Highway Patrol, Bravon Skyleighn Childs, 18, of Crestview, was traveling west on U.S. 90 at 11 p.m. Friday when she performed a U-turn with her 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo at the intersection with Old River Road.
Devin James Levesque, 18, of Crestview, was following closely behind in a 1994 Ford Ranger pickup. When Childs performed the U-turn, Levesque struck the center portion of the driver’s door on the Monte Carlo. Both vehicles came to rest in the opposite lane of the road following the crash.
FHP reported that Childs was pronounced dead at North Okaloosa Medical Center. A teenage passenger from Fort Walton Beach in Childs' vehicle was seriously injured and transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
Both Childs and Levesque were wearing seat belts and FHP noted that alcohol was not involved in the fatal accident. The press release reported Levesque and a passenger in his vehicle received just minor injuries.
