Northwest Florida Ballet plans school auditions, studio tours

FORT WALTON BEACH — The Northwest Florida Ballet Académie has set auditions for the 2016-17 school year.

Times are 3:30-5 p.m. April 30 for incoming sixth-graders, and 6-8 p.m. April 30 and 2:30-4:30 p.m. May 1 for incoming third-graders. All auditions are at the NFB studios, 310 Perry Ave. SE, Fort Walton Beach.

The Northwest Florida Ballet Académie is a free, integrated arts and academic program for third through eighth grade boys and girls who demonstrate the potential to excel in dance.

Students receive concentrated instruction in ballet as a part of their overall academic and artistic education. Certified elementary and middle school teachers under the direction of the Okaloosa County School District supervise the academic program. French, art and music are also taught weekly.

Prospective students and their parents are encouraged to attend a tour event at NFB:

●third-graders — 9 a.m. April 26, 6 p.m. April 27 and 9 a.m. April 28

●sixth-graders, 9 a.m. April 29.
