GOLDEN: Baker weightlifters perform strong at region

Baker had two runner-ups and two more third-place finishers at the Region 1-1A meet Saturday.

Those weightlifters have a good shot of continuing their seasons to the prestigious state meet.

The state qualification list was not published on fhsaa.org, the Florida High School Sports Association website, as of noon Monday. All region champions qualify for next weekend’s state meet, and the top 12 non-champs from around the state also earn state berths.

Logan Cadenhead was the 139-pound weight class runner-up with a 410 total, a good chance of qualifying for state. Teammate Montae Barto (238) also was a runner-up finisher, with a 620 score. Both totals were personal records for the Gators.

Bradley Inscore finished third in the 119 class with a 280 total, just five pounds behind runner-up Joe Dunn from North Bay Haven. Austin Mayo (154) was another third-place finisher, scoring 475.

Jacob Gilmore (169) finished sixth, with a 490. Thomas Crowson (183) also finished sixth, with a 505 total.
