CRESTVIEW — Cody Hancock, a 2009 Crestview High School graduate, is coaching an undefeated Orlando Christian Prep High School.
Hancock — who accepted a position with the school in August of 2015 as a history teacher and was selected as the head baseball coach — played for Bulldog baseball Coach Tim Gillis.
As a CHS junior, he was selected to participate in the Gulf Coast Top 100 at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City. During the event — which features Northwest Florida's top 100 players — he hit a home run in his first at-bat and earned a scholarship to George Wallace College in Selma, Ala.
While at George Wallace, he played multiple positions including shortstop, catcher and pitcher. After receiving his Associate of Art degree, he attended the University of Florida, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts.
Hancock — whose Orlando team this year is undefeated through seven games — is married to Crestview’s Brooklyn Howard, Don and Donna Howard's granddaughter.
