Deputy performs CPR, mouth-to-mouth to save Crestview dog's life

An Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office Deputy performs mouth to mouth resuscitation on Puddles after owner Arjay Floyd carried him out of the home.

CRESTVIEW — Arjay Floyd had just moved into his father’s home in Crestview last week when a fire erupted the next day.

Floyd was coming back home Friday afternoon around 2:55 p.m. when he noticed the house was engulfed in flames. He ran into “pitch black” smoke looking for the fire extinguisher, but it wouldn’t work.

“I called 911 and ran back in looking for my dogs,” he said.

First responders arrived at the home within about two minutes. The entire kitchen and living room were filled with smoke, Floyd said.
