13 things you didn't know about Crestview High wrestler Josh Cantwell

CRESTVIEW — Josh Cantwell is part Tasmanian Devil and part surgeon as he grapples an opponent for Crestview High School's wrestling team.

The Bulldog senior competes in the 145-pound weight class after winning last year's District 1-2A championship in the 126-pound division.

“Josh Cantwell is an outstanding kid,” Bulldog Coach Andrew Black said. “He’s the spirit of the team. He’s the goofball and he keeps us laughing.

“He’s an extremely hard worker. Him and his twin brother, Michael Cantwell, go toe-to-toe every day in practice.”

Black said he stays on Josh because, as last year’s district champion, he has a target on his back.

“It’s time for him to step up now and see what he can do,” Black said.

We now catch up with Josh Cantwell.

How old were you when you started wrestling?

I was in the 10th grade, so I was 15 when I started.

What's the best part of wrestling?

Hugging my twin brother after a match.

What's the worst part of wrestling?

Getting pinned.

What are your expectations this season?

I want to try and go to the state finals with my brother and, hopefully, win.

If you had to pick a different sport to play, what would it be?

Baseball, because I’ve been playing it since I was very young.

What is your favorite wrestling experience?

When I was at district finals last year and flipped Tanner Woods (of Tate).

What are your hobbies outside wrestling?

I try to work out every day and work on baseball.

What's your dream career?

I either want to own my own business as a gym or go into computer programming. It depends on how things go.

Do you want to wrestle in college?

I haven’t thought of a dream school, but the reason I did this was to try and get a scholarship for wrestling.

What is your favorite movie?

"Invincible."

Who is your favorite singer?

All American Rejects

If you could be a cartoon character, who would you be?

I think Rigby (the raccoon) from the "Regular Show."

If you could go back and live in any other period in history, which one would you choose?

I’d probably go back to 2000, because I liked things then.
