Scholarships available for Okaloosa students pursuing agriculture, forestry

MARIANNA — Farm Credit of Northwest Florida is offering a scholarship opportunity for college-bound high school seniors.

It will award six $1,500 AgVocator Scholarships for seniors within its territory, which spans 18 Florida Panhandle counties.

Two students in each of these regions will receive a scholarship:

●The Western region: Okaloosa, Escambia, Santa Rosa and Walton counties

●The Eastern region: Franklin, Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor and Wakulla counties

●The Central region: Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson and Washington counties

The scholarship is meant to encourage young people to use their talents to create stronger communities in rural areas where they live. Preference will be given to students pursuing a career in agriculture, forestry, horticulture or a similar field.

In addition, consideration will be given to each applicant's academic aptitude, vocational promise, personal attributes and leadership qualities.
