CRESTVIEW — Okaloosa County School District Superintendent Mary Beth Jackson has recommended suspension for a school bus driver who became ill and disembarked students on a country road.
The driver became sick Sept. 9 during her morning run to Crestview High School and Davidson Middle School, and had students get off the bus on Auburn Road. She reportedly called to request another bus driver to pick them up.
Another bus picked up the students about a half-hour later. The driver was hospitalized for her illness.
After an investigation, Jackson recommended at the Sept. 28 school board meeting that the driver be suspended. The school board unanimously accepted the recommendation as part of the consent agenda.
Under district policy, the driver may appeal the decision.
