CRESTVIEW — Crestview Police discovered a mobile methamphetamine laboratory during a traffic stop of a stolen vehicle on Monday afternoon, according to a press release from the department.
Shannon S. Lisonbee, 39, of Baker, and Stephen A. Ainsworth, 28, of Niceville are being charged with a capital felony of manufacturing or possessing more than 400 grams of methamphetamine, in addition to a charge of grand theft of an automobile.
A department officer commenced a traffic stop on Brookmeade Drive on Monday, after noticing a truck had a broken rear window. After running the vehicle's information, it was revealed that it had been reported stolen on Nov. 19, the release stated.
After apprehending both Lisonbee and Ainsworth, police also discovered "multiple chemicals and other items that were consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine," the release stated.
Upon further searching the vehicle, officers discovered over 400 grams of methamphetamine that were concealed in the vehicle.
Officers then dispatched the Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement, the unit closed a section of Brookmeade Drive for four hours, while the chemicals were neutralized and removed from the vehicle.
"It is known that exposure to chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine is very hazardous, as they are often extremely volatile and explosive," the release stated.
Both men are in custody of the Okaloosa County Jail. In addition to the previously mentioned charges, Lisonbee was charged with operating a vehicle without a license. Ainsworth was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear for financial responsibility and attaching a tag not assigned to a vehicle.
