CRESTVIEW – A man has an Aug. 27 plea date after telling officers he had a handgun and a “little dope” in his car; he was arrested on drug-related charges, lawmen say.
On July 12 a Crestview Police officer stopped 32-year-old Kenneth Narvais Harrison of Crestview for driving with a suspended license. The officer spotted Harrison behind the wheel of a vehicle and knew from previous experience his license had been suspended.
The officer asked if he could search Harrison’s vehicle; Harrison said it was not his vehicle and he’d rather it not be searched.
Then, Harrison asked if he could speak to an officer in private. He admitted he had a “little dope” in his possession, and said he had a handgun under the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
Officers found a Glock 27 loaded with .40-caliber ammunition under the seat. When they searched Harrison, they reportedly found several small plastic bags containing a green leafy substance, and a small, white, “semi-solid substance” in his front pocket.
The substances tested positive for marijuana and cocaine.
A records check indicated Harrison had 14 previous felony convictions.
He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and driving with a suspended license.
