DeFuniak Springs communications specialist joins CHELCO

Tammy Kearce

CHELCO recently welcomed Communications Specialist Tammy Kearce.

Kearce formerly worked as a newspaper and magazine editor, writer and Northwest Florida State College instructor. She has now turned her attention to serving CHELCO’s communications needs.

“I am excited to be working with a member-owned cooperative,” said Kearce. “I have long believed that electric power on demand is one of our greatest luxuries here in the United States; however, it is something most of us take for granted. So, I’m eager to inform members about CHELCO’s products and services.”

Kearce studied communications and print journalism at University of West Florida (UWF) in Pensacola and has worked for publications from Washington, DC, to Montgomery, Ala., but she has always made her home in DeFuniak Springs.  As a lifelong resident of the city, Kearce is familiar with CHELCO’s services and knows many members personally.

“Everywhere I go, people ask me, ‘How’s the new job?’ Between friends, family and former students, I have my own cheering section. And I’m glad to reply to them that it couldn’t be better. I am working with a great group of professionals.”

Kearce has also recently made trips to area offices in Santa Rosa Beach, Freeport, Bluewater Bay, Baker and Auburn to familiarize herself with those communities. In the future, Kearce hopes to have more content generated from those areas for the CHELCO News magazine, as well as the soon to be published CHELCO News Too.
