CRESTVIEW — Crestview resident Nick Hadick hopes to play tennis next season at Rocky Bayou Christian School in Niceville.
To that end, the 12-year-old practiced the basics and worked to improve his technique during this week’s Twin Hills Tennis Camp at the eponymous park.
"It’s a good way to stay active," he said.
Former Crestview High School graduate Moya Moore and her father, Bill, coached nearly 30 children on how to warm up, along with ground strokes, serving and volleying.
The lessons — for groups of children ages 6-8 and 9-12 — benefited novices but also seasoned players, like Julianna Roberts, who has played the sport for about two years.
"I just like playing sports in general,” the 12-year-old said.
Bill Moore has coached tennis the past 15 years at Richbourg and Shoal River Middle School.
Moya has excelled in the sport since learning it from her father at a young age.
The rising senior — ranked a No. 1 seed on Birmingham Southern College’s tennis team — this spring was the Southern Athletic Association’s Player of the Week.
She finished with a 7-4 record this tennis season in the Southern Collegiate Conference play.
