Crestview boys cross country team earns regional bid

Crestview High School’s cross country team includes Jacob Cyrus, Josh Cyrus, Brandon Johnson, Joseph Printy, Matthew Kannapel, Evan Stegner, Trenton Taylor and Coach Morgan Crawford.

LYNN HAVEN — Crestview High School’s boys cross country team finished third at the Florida High School Athletic Association District 2-3A meet Oct. 26. The score earned the team a spot in Saturday's  Region 1-3A meet in Lake City.

The Bulldogs — led by Evan Stegner's 11th-place finish in 16:50.81 — scored 94 points to finish behind Okaloosa County rivals Fort Walton Beach and Niceville.

 Joe Printy took 15th place with 16:56.06, Brandon Johnson (17:58:40) finished 20th, Matt Kannapel (18:14.45), 23rd, and Trenton Taylor (18:15.98) 25th. 

Also competing were Josh Cyrus (19.50.38) and Jacob Cyrus (19.55:96). 

Sophomore Allison Ammons finished eighth for the Crestview girls, who finished fourth as a team with 94 points, to earn an individual qualifying spot at the regional meet.

Rounding out the girls finishers were Chelsea Aguilar (21:11.68), Alyssa Johnson (21:16.97), Jazmyn Martinez (22:09.33), junior Danielle Tylee (22:22.67), Zuleika Matos-Medina (22:42.31) and Melissa Kannapel (23:05.34).
