8 North Okaloosa football players to play on all-star team

Eight local senior high school football players will take the field a final time Friday night during the Pensacola Sports Association Subway Series All-Star football game.

The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Pace High School.

The East team comprises players from Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties. The East will play a West squad of players from Escambia County.

Baker School star running back DJ Thomas will join Gator teammates Izayiah Thomas, Kodi Nixon and Dakota Campbell on the East team.

Linebacker Kyle Koontz, Matt Gillis, Jaylynne Robinson and Khalil Foster will represent Crestview High School on the East team.

DJ Thomas, who led the area with more than 2,000 yards rushing this year, also will play linebacker.

Izaiah Thomas is set to play defensive end and wide receiver. Nixon will play tight end and defensive tackle. And Campbell will play offensive guard and defensive tackle.

Robinson, who had a breakout year in first-year coach Tim Hatten's offense, is expected to play wide receiver and running back. Gillis will punt and play wide receiver. Foster will play quarterback and wide receiver.
