Sheriff's Office investigating reports of juveniles being lured into car

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report by a sixth-grade student in Crestview who says a man asked her to get into his car Aug. 19.

The girl reported the incident to her school resource officer the next day, saying she had been playing in the area of Brown Place at Whitewater Lane around 4 p.m. when the incident took place.

She says the man initially asked if she’d seen any dogs running around. He then asked her if she would get in the car, ride around and help him look for them.

The 11-year old refused and ran home. She described the man as a white male with a closely groomed beard and said he was driving a white, four door car with chipped paint.

An incident had also been reported on Whitewater Lane on June 8 when two girls ages 11 and 13 say a man in his 50s or 60s with silver hair and gold glasses told them to come over to his car. They refused and he then sped away. They described the vehicle as an early 2000s model four-door Buick sedan, possibly silver or tan in color.
