Witnesses sought for Oct. 9 traffic crash in Crestview

CRESTVIEW — The Crestview Police Department is looking for witnesses to a traffic crash that occurred just before 5:30 p.m. Oct. 9 in the area of McClelland Street and School Avenue.

Based on a preliminary investigation, it appears that Crestview resident Mark A. Williams Jr., 18, was riding a 2000 Honda CR80 motorcycle south-bound on McClelland Street and failed to stop at a stop sign at the School Avenue intersection.

Williams’ motorcycle struck a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Valeena N. Battle, 30, of Crestview, who was driving on School Avenue attempting to turn onto McClelland Street.

Williams sustained serious injuries from the crash and was transported to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola by helicopter, where he remains in serious condition. Battle had non life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to North Okaloosa Medical Center.
