CRESTVIEW — Wings of Fire, 397 E. James Lee Blvd., has re-opened after receiving a July 10 emergency closure notice by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
The restaurant reopened for lunch the following day after passing a follow-up inspection.
Owner Donna Carite said the restaurant, which opened in 2001, had always received good marks in past inspections. She said their pest control company had just performed a baiting treatment the day before their inspection, which stirred up cockroach activity.

Roughly 45 live cockroaches were found in the restaurant’s kitchen, according to the DBPR inspection report. Other cited violations included storing food in ice used for drinks, storing raw hamburger patties over ready-to-eat food and having live flies in the kitchen.
Carite and her staff corrected most of the violations immediately. She also contacted her pest control company, which came out for an emergency treatment.
She plans to have them come out for another treatment next week.
