CRESTVIEW — Football players ages 5-13 experienced a cornucopia of gridiron drills earlier this week during Crestview Bulldog Football Camp.
“Regardless of where they play, we want to let them have a taste of every position in the game of football and the drills associated with those positions,” Bulldog Coach Tim Hatten said. “We just want to kind of give them a watered-down approach to the whole game."
Hatten stressed the importance of not locking a player into a certain position while he is still playing youth league ball.
“You don’t know what these guys are going to be,” Hatten said. “The best football player I ever coached (Larry Kendrick from Haines City) was a guard in youth league football. He ended up being a kid that led the Southeastern Conference in kickoff returns.”
Bulldog senior Nate Gerard said he enjoyed his time working with the younger players.
“I see great potential (in the young players). It’s pretty awesome knowing the guys coming behind you will fill the house (Jack Foster Stadium) as well.”
