Crestview man in jail following Wal-Mart robbery

A Crestview man is behind bars following a Thursday night Wal-Mart robbery, Crestview Police stated.

Lonnie Ray Hutto, 29, entered the South Ferdon Boulevard store just after 7:45 p.m. last night, selected approximately $500 in merchandise and passed several open registers in an attempt to leave the store with the items, according to a police report.

Hutto then pulled out a knife and threatened employees who tried to stop him, police said.

Officers later capture Hutto after he fled the store on foot, according to a news release.

Hutto — who was arrested and charged with armed robbery with a knife, resisting a retail merchant and retail theft — was transported and released into the custody of the Okaloosa County Jail.

All of the items that Hutto allegedly stole were returned.
