Okaloosa STEM programs draw magazine's attention

The Okaloosa County School District’s growing STEM programs are featured this month in an educational magazine.

The eight-page spread in The Pitsco Network April-May issue highlights science, technology, engineering and math endeavors taking place across the district. It features students, teachers, district administrators and School Board members.

Five elementary schools equipped with new science labs through a Department of Defense grant saw student test science scores increase by about 14 percent overall between 2012 and 2013.

In addition to the science labs, all the middle schools received new robotic equipment, officials said.
