The American Federation of Police & Concerned Citizens presented the Law Enforcement Order of the Purple Heart Award to Crestview Police Department Officers Shane Kriser and Beau Baier.

Baier was shot in the left thigh and Kriser took a bullet just above the right knee in early January when they entered a home at 462 N. Savage St., police said.

The Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team had obtained a search warrant for the house in connection with an investigation of two of the home's residents, according to records. Team members went to the house to execute the warrant.

Editor's Note: An earlier version of this report, based on information from a press release, erroneously stated that the officers were shot while trying to serve an eviction notice.
