Okaloosa County Transit wins statewide marketing award

FORT WALTON BEACH — The Florida Public Transportation Association hosted their annual marketing competition on Oct. 26-28, honoring various categories of marketing excellence in Florida’s transit industry.

Okaloosa County Transit took home first place in the Online Communications category for the Art on the Move social media campaign.

The FPTA Marketing Awards Competition is open to all member systems in Florida. A panel of marketing professionals judged entries based on innovation, creativity, production quality and overall effectiveness.

The Art on the Move campaign called for local students to submit artwork depicting their ideal place to ride the OCT bus.

Through a tab on the OCT Facebook page, community members could vote on submissions in three separate categories for elementary, middle and high school drawings. The winning artwork from each category was featured on the exterior of OCT buses.

Students, teachers, families and friends encouraged the community to “Like” the page on Facebook and vote for their favorite drawing. The campaign resulted in 1,642 votes, 152,649 impressions and 17,688 users reached.
