Sheriff's office: Beware of fake SunPass and Florida Turnpike 'toll enforcement' scam

SHALIMAR — Florida Turnpike and SunPass users should beware of a scam targeting them, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

Scammers send a fraudulent violation notice from a fictitious company, "Toll Enforcement LLC," and claim the potential victim may owe money for previous unpaid tolls.

A company by that name does not exist. The Florida Department of Transportation, which is not associated with this group, is currently investigating the matter.

The fake letter has been sent to many Florida residents, according to the OCSO.

Anyone who has received this fake notice should check their account's status by logging on to www.SunPass.com with secure credentials or contacting the SunPass Customer Service Center, 888-865-5352.
