BAKER — A relentless Baker School football team imposed its will on Sneads on Friday.
The Gators held the Pirates to 120 yards in total offense and less than three yards a play while controlling the clock and the game on offense. The end results was a 21-7 win that had the Gator faithful smiling as they left Doug Griffith Memorial Stadium.
The win was Baker’s 13th consecutive regular season victory.

“We’ve worked hard on conditioning and this up tempo stuff we are trying to run and our guys responded,” Gator Coach Matt Brunson said. “We’ve got to play ourselves into shape, but what a great effort by Baker to come out 2-0 (to start the season*.”
Baker set the tone early on forcing the Pirates to three and outs on their first two possession.
In the mean time Gator running attack led by Austin Davis and Austin Martin pounded the ball down field as Baker scored touchdowns on its first two drives on the night.
The Gators went 61 yards on eight plays on their first possession. A Jon Beck to Josh Long pass of 17 yards capped the scoring drive with 7:43 left in the first quarter. Josh Mayhew added the extra point and the Gators never looked back.
Davis scored on a 5-yard run to put the finishing touch on a 12-play, 58 yard drive on Baker’s second possession.
The score remained 14-0 until the 3:34 mark in the third quarter when Beck hit Mayhew with a 30-yard touchdown pass.
On the first Gator possession of the second half the Gators held the ball for 16 plays and moved 59 yards only to turn the ball over on downs at the Sneads’ 14-yard line.
The lone Pirate (1-1) score of the game came on a 20-yard pass from Colton McIntosh to Alphonso Brown with 8:12 left in the fourth quarter. The score came the first play after the Gators turned the ball over on downs deep in their own territory.
Baker finished the night with 275 yards in total offense.
Davis led the Gators with 106 yards rushing on 21 carries. Martin added 45 yards on 17 carries.
Beck was 8-of-passing for 94 yards and two touchdowns.
Bacarius Boykin and Javarris Goodman each had 34 yards rushing for the Pirates.
