CRESTVIEW — The Crestview Kiwanis Club has contributed several grants totaling $1,300 to local schools for various educational services.
The club gave $100 to the Key Club advisor at Crestview High School, as well as $200 for a new paper cutter/trimmer; this was considered a need for CHS, which participates in the annual Okaloosa County Art Show.
It also provided $200 to Sheri Brewer’s class to assist her with introducing an Access Points science course that creates a lab-driven interactive experience for hands-on science learning.
At Northwood Elementary School, the club donated $200 to art teacher Beth Patterson to help with art supplies for her class.
Kiwanis presented 34 books to Shoal River Middle School to introduce students to historical events of World War II and the Holocaust.
It gave Antioch $200 to help reward Accelerated Reading and Math students with nine-week incentives.
The club also awarded $200 to Baker School to assist with completion of a Freedom Shrine. The area will have replicas of historic documents and provide an educational and motivational display of love of country. The school is still raising funds to finish this project.
In all, the Kiwanis Club of Crestview will impact over 3,500 students with the grants.
