BAKER — There was something for everybody Monday evening as Baker School’s football teams held the annual Maroon and Gold scrimmage at Doug Griffith Memorial Stadium.

The Gator varsity, junior varsity and middle school teams all had a chance to show what their stuff in the 90-minute event.

Next up for the varsity and junior varsity teams is Thursday’s jamboree at South Walton.

Rising senior fullback/middle linebacker Montae Barto said the scrimmage was good for the Gators.

“Right now we are learning and getting new plays in and getting new defensive alignments in,” he said. “Right now it’s going great in spring and just starting out.

“I believe having people watching us will get us lose and ready for that game environment (Thursday night).”

Baker Coach Matt Brunson liked what he saw in the scrimmage.

“We had some exciting plays,” he said. “I thought we had some hitting going on. We had some good licks up front.

“Overall, they got after each other and nobody got hurt. I thought that was a positive.”
