‘Captain Marvel’ delights Crestview moviegoers

CRESTVIEW — There was no shortage of superheroes at the July Family Movie Night as more than 150 residents gathered at the local Spanish Trail Park amphitheater Saturday evening for the screening of "Captain Marvel."

Before the film, kids played games, did chalk drawings, made art, sat in a police car and a firetruck, and got to meet real life superheroes in the form of Crestview police Corp. Gabe Dunlap and Crestview firefighters,

The movie night was sponsored by All In Credit Union, which handed out balloons and delighted kids with a bubble machine at their information tent. Hub City Smokehouse and Grill, Body B Healthy and Tom’s Main Street Ice Cream provided food and treats.

"We appreciate Crestview’s own superheroes," said Mayor JB Whitten as he recognized the police officer and firefighters, "and we thank our movie and food sponsors for making events like this possible."

Family Movie Nights are programs of the Mayor’s Cultural Series, presented by the Crestview Parks and Recreation Programs department and sponsored by local businesses. The next film will be "A Dog’s Purpose," sponsored by Flex Fitness, on Aug. 24.
