To our summer reading challenge participants who explore a universe of stories this summer: Don't get so lost that you forget to turn in your Reading Log! Turn in Reading Logs no later than 6 p.m. July 18 at the front desk of the Crestview Library.
Then, come to the Crestview Community Center on July 23 for the Reader Awards! Ages 6-11 will want to arrive at 6:15 p.m. to pick up their funny money, peruse and possibly pledge funny money for the silent auction prizes. We’ll have a ceremony to reward their efforts and to give away prizes for our Teen Summer Reading Challenge. Then we’ll open the Funny Money Store. We’ll also enjoy cookies, compliments of Little Caesar's, and milk.
Parents and guardians, even if your child only reads one day during the Summer Reading Challenge, I still encourage you to turn in the Reading Log and come to the Reader Awards. Let them buy what they can with one funny money dollar and see what they could have bought if they had read more. Perhaps it will encourage more reading next summer.
If you can’t make it to the Reader Awards, please turn in the Reading Logs anyway. Then, stop by the library by Aug. 23 to pick up the reading certificate and a coupon for a free Whataburger Jr. (ages 12 and under).
Please call me at 682-4432 with questions.
Heather Nitzel is the Crestview Public Library's youth services librarian.
