CRESTVIEW — Families seeking a slow but steady return to “normal” need look no farther than Spanish Trail Park’s amphitheatre and the next Family Movie Night screening.
After a year of drive-in movies and no food available, families may at last unfold sports chairs, throw down blankets, and get refreshments from a local food vendor.
The next film is rated PG and screens at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 15 at the amphitheatre on Stillwell Boulevard. Admission is free.
It follows the day’s downtown Crestview Arts Festival and Spanish Trail Cruisers Club’s car show.
Movie Night sponsor CJLIM Enterprise LLC has chosen a family-friendly film from Alex and Stephen Kendrick, the creators of “Fireproof” and “Courageous” that affirms, to quote its tagline, “prayer is a powerful weapon.”
CJLIM Enterprise owner Warren “Mr. Bow Tie” Feaster, known for his trademark bow ties, chose a film that he believes will resonate with all families.
“I truly believe the center of everything is family,” he states in his Linked In profile. “Many solutions and problems are based on and in the family structure.”
“This a great movie for the whole family,” Mayor JB Whitten said.
Crestview’s Family Movie Nights are programs of the Mayor’s Cultural Series.
“We’re grateful to Mr. (Warren) Feaster for choosing such a stirring film.”
The film presents the story of Tony and Elizabeth, the seemingly perfect couple who appear to have everything a perfect marriage can offer. They have great jobs and a beautiful daughter, but in reality, their marriage has descended into a war zone, with their daughter caught in the middle.
With guidance from a wise, older lady, they discover the power of prayer and transform their lives.
Families are encouraged to bring folding chairs, blankets, and masks, if they prefer. Social distancing between groups is requested. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
NOTE: Because of Crestview’s licensing agreement, the film title cannot be publicly disclosed. See the city’s website and the Parks and Recreation Department’s Facebook page for details.
