OKALOOSA COUNTY COMMUNITY ALLIANCE: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 19, Twisted Grape Wine Bar and Café, 1193 Eglin Parkway, Shalimar. Lunch with OCCA Chair Rick Owens. CHOCTAWHATCHEE AUDUBON BIRD WALK: meet 7:30 a.m. Oct. 21 at Oak Creek Shopping Center by CVS on U.S. Highway 20 in Niceville. CHOCTAWHATCHEE AUDUBON BIRD WALK: Meet at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 28 at Pepitos, 1313 Lewis Turner Blvd., Fort Walton Beach. See ducks, herons, raptors and migrants at the Fort Walton Beach landfill and holding ponds. Wear closed-toed shoes, a hat and long pants. Malcolm Swan, 210-343-9082.

GENEALOGY SOCIETY OF OKALOOSA COUNTY: 10:30 a.m. Oct. 28, Fort Walton Beach Library, 185 Miracle Strip Parkway SE. Guest speaker is Bruce Cossen, whose family heritage goes back to the early days of Walton County settlement. He is a local historian and conducts most of his research in the local panhandle area. Bruce is also board member of the Walton County Heritage Association. One of his hobbies is metal detecting, which will be represented in some of the displays and photos. Val Moreland, 243-0352.
