‘We can mold ‘em how we want ’em’

CRESTVIEW — Coach Chris Small has only one starter returning to the Davidson Panthers football program this season, having to take a step back and slowly recondition an all-new squad.

“They haven’t developed any bad habits yet,” said Small, stating that starting with a team this new gives him and his staff an opportunity to develop the team’s fundamental skillset.

Even with a seven-year county championship drought, Small always looks forward to playing against Davidson’s cross-town rival in the Shoal River Mustangs.

With the team’s relative inexperience, the Panthers do have one big advantage: intimidation.

Small hopes that the size of his team will translate into physicality on the field.

“We’re big! We’re as big as we’ve been in I don’t know how long,” said Small. “We’re going to look good getting off the bus.”
