CRESTVIEW — A free, alternate summer camp is available for Okaloosa County youths interested in police work.

Classes are July 30 through August 3 at the Warriors Hall next to the Crestview Police Department at 201 Stillwell Blvd., Crestview.

Hours are 8 a.m. to noon  for kids 7-9; and 1-5 p.m. for kids 10-15. Graduation is 9 a.m. to noon August 3.

To attend, students must write a 50-150 word essay  explaining why they would like to attend the academy and what they hope to experience.

Applications are available at the CPD office on Stillwell, or at www.CrestviewPD.org. They must be notarized and received by July 23. A notary public is available during office hours at the CPD Records window.

Previous attendees are welcome to return, but priority is given to new applicants should space get tight. All activities are carefully supervised by trained and certified Crestview police officers.
