Free meals available for North Okaloosa children

The Florida Summer BreakSpot program offers free nutritious meals, recreational fun and educational activities for children 18 and under at more than 3,800 locations.

•7:30-8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, June 13-29 and July 11-20, Southside Primary School, 650 Pearl St. S, Crestview.

•7:15-7:45 a.m. and 11-11:45 a.m. through June 28, Walker Elementary School, 2988 Stillwell Blvd., Crestview.

•8-8:45 a.m. and 10:45-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays through June 29 and July 11-20 at Richbourg School, 500 Alabama St., Crestview. This site is open only to students enrolled at the school.

Okaloosa Head Start accepting applications

CRESTVIEW — The Okaloosa County Comprehensive Head Start and Early Head Start offices are accepting applications for the 2017-2018 school year.

All centers serve children with special needs, and all services are free to families who meet the federal guidelines or special needs criteria.

Crestview, Laurel Hill, Niceville and Fort Walton Beach Head Start centers serve children ages 3 to 5.

The Early Head Start program, for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years, is available in Crestview and Fort Walton Beach only.

Wanted: Seniors vs. Crime volunteers

CRESTVIEW — The Seniors vs. Crime office needs volunteers.

Seniors vs. Crime is a Florida Attorney General's office program that has helped protect seniors from fraud since 1989. It partners with law enforcement and other organizations to provide comprehensive assistance. The SVC’s local office handles a variety of scams including used cars and sub-par home improvement and repair projects.
