CRESTVIEW — The driver of a truck that crashed at the intersection near the Crestview Publix supermarket remains in critical condition following the accident.
Approximately 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Crestview resident Mary Robledo, 61, driving a black Dodge Ram pick-up truck, attempted to turn left from northbound Ferdon Boulevard/State Road 85 onto Redstone Avenue.
Robeldo crashed head-on into a traffic light pole, striking pedestrian Michelle Callahan, 50, of Crestview, who was waiting to cross the street. Ms. Callahan was hospitalized but was released Friday morning.
The truck’s front passenger, Ireland Robledo, in her 20s, was slightly injured and has also been released. Rear passenger Jean Maldanada-Vergne, 23, was not injured. A two-year-old infant in the rear of the truck was slightly injured and has also been released from the hospital.
The passengers are also Crestview residents.
Neither Mary nor Ireland Robledo was wearing seat belts. The accident, which snarled afternoon traffic at the busy intersection for more than an hour and a half, remains under investigation.
