CRESTVIEW — The Florida Bar has recently disciplined 26 attorneys; among them is a Crestview lawyer.
Jeffery Toney, who was admitted to practice in 1994, has been suspended for 90 days, according to a media release for the Florida Bar, an official arm of the state Supreme Court. Upon reinstatement, Toney faces two years’ probation.
“While working at an immigration center, Toney engaged in misrepresentation with clients, federal immigration agencies and the court,” the release stated. “He also engaged in the unlicensed practice of law by leaving his signature stamp at the immigration center, to be used by a non-lawyer employee who had previously been disbarred.”
