Gardening for independence topic of Crestview program

A gardening seminar will teach methods to grow food at home. Call 689-5850 to register for the Okaloosa Master Gardener event, which is 10-11 a.m. Aug. 17 in Crestview.

CRESTVIEW — Karen Harper and Marg Stewart, will present a one-hour program, “Gardening for Independence — a Journey to Become More Self-Sufficient In Home Food Production."

The  Okaloosa County Master Gardeners will discuss their quest to grow  more of their own food at their two very different suburban homes; provide information and resources for plants, seeds, containers, raised beds, trellises, fertilizers and soil amendments, and suggestions for home greenhouses; and methods of preserving that home-grown bounty.

The program is 10-11 a.m. Aug. 17 on August 17, 2016 at the Crestview Extension Office, 3098 Airport Road.
